NAME Kaspar Hale AGE 34 DOB Sept.9th, 1982
HEIGHT 6'00" BUILD Built/Lean HAIR Dark Brown EYES Blue
Romanian Witch - The Morrigan's Champion
ABILITIES & SKILLS
Similar to telekinesis, Kaspar has a mastery over magic energy and can use it to manipulate inatimate objects, push, or pull things with a force. Only it's not done with his mind but the manipulation of physically manifested arcane energy.
Magic that allows him to command forces of nature such as fire, water, air, earth. Nothing in the way of causing a tsunami or thunderstorm, but nothing short of removing air from someone's lungs, or starting a fire.
Learning dark arts from demons and the black magic books he's found, Kaspar has learned to use his blood to summon demons or fuel more powerful spells such as curses. This power does not give without taking. Sometimes just his blood, sometimes more.
Hilarious, yes, the one who doesn't want to heal can. Kas has learned minor healing spells from his elder sister. He can heal anything short of broken bones and internal bleeding but no severe illness. It's exceptionally helpful for making 'friends'.
The Morrigan's Champion
Kaspar is the Champion of Morrigan, the Celtic Goddess of War, Fate and Death--in addition to being the patroness of revenge, night, magic, prophecy, priestesses and witches. He wields the power she has given him as an extension of herself. S in addition to his witch magic he now has the same minor abilities gifted by Morrigan. He is still learning them.
Standard Military Combat/Sniper Training
Kaspar knows the in and outs of all military training such as fire arms, survival, hand to hand and more specifically--sniping, as he was a spotter for Marc. He has eyes like a fuckin' hawk.
In his year in Seattle Kaspar has gained and lost in equal measures. He's found both of his brothers at war--yet at the same time, one is lost, and the other trapped to a meat sack of the Hell Knight Pride. His hard exterior has been won over and punctured by Addison, whom he actually trusts and has come to love unconditionally. She is a very special case. One of his sisters, Arianna, has now shown up in town and he's learning to rekindle their relationship. Oh--The Morrigan has also bestown upon him the great honor of being her Champion. Which means all the power, knowledge, and purpose Kaspar has been wanting, and will be looking to use to save Samuel from Beelzebub.
• He doesn't drink. Alcohol and it's function annoys him (his father was an alcoholic)
• Generally untrusting, largely due to being manipulated
• Spends more money on books than he does food
• Books. When he isn't reading/practicing craft he's restoring books
• Hasn't spoken to his family since the war Arianna has shown up, and he is wary but happy to see her
• Breakfast is a meal for any time of the day
• Caffeine has no effect on him anymore but coffee for life
• Easily won over if something appears logical--book smart, not street smart
• Porcupine on the outside, no nonsense, tell it like it is asshole--turned to melted butter if you're Addison.
A humble beginning in the small town of Westford was hardly worth the lie that Kaspar's parents tried to tell. He knew they weren't from there, they were foreign, but would never tell. The Hales kept their past a secret with the eye on the future and nurturing the bright young minds of their children. The youngest of three, Kaspar of course felt the need to pick of the slack where his sisters may have left off. It wasn't as though they casted a shadow to step out of--but no one wants to be the baby. Ari and Willow were so wise and quick to learn the arts. The eldest went on to become a healer, achieving a legal degree in medicine as well as that of their craft to show the world that magic could help. Willow was more adventurous in nature like Kaspar and set off to collect old artifacts and runes to better study their art. She settled happily somewhere with a human man choosing a more quiet life.
So it should come as no surprise, given Kaspar's demeanor, that the Hale's are a very odd bunch. In fact--Kaspar isn't even sure his last name is correct. He knows he and his sisters were not born in Westford, and a great chunk of their adolescence has been brainwashed and magicked away into a lie. What his parents were running from he could only guess. Until Kaspar really started researching his own heritage (he couldn't do so in his house) he suspects it's because Romanian witches have a very close and powerful tie with what many would consider the Devil, or whomever their incarnation of him would be. Which explains his comfort in dealing with the dark arts, demons, and really fears nothing in the way of magic other that it all is a craft to learn.
To better fit their fake lifestyle he and his sisters quickly lost their accents (Kaspar can speak fluent Romanian, Russian, and Polish because apparently Mom and Dad did a lot of moving around before they settled in Massachusetts). All three Hale siblings flourished in practicing magic behind closed doors but like most others wanted kindship with the other humans at school or after school activities. Coming at no surprise, Kaspar adapted easily to a given situation and he found it effortless to make friends. Same with his sisters--they were outgoing, charming even, good looking kids. But Leslie and Edward rarely if ever let their kinships with others go to far. There were no sleepovers, there were no dates, there were no after school activities. There was what needed to be done to make appearances because the Hales were so paranoid their children would slip or they would be branded witches and loose them, that they had no real childhood at all.
It wasn't until Arianna nearly finished high school that she, Willow, and Kaspar started doing what kids do--sneaking out and doing what they wanted anyways. Edward was used to long working days and usually kept close to a bottle when he wasn't working, and their mother eventually couldn't handle his behavior so she took to occupying herself with her Apothecary that she used to sell her potions on the black market in secret. Very hypocritical, but Eddy spent more on his alcohol than he did his family. Eventually the Hale children were old enough to make their own decisions and not allow their parents' paranoia be their own. Willow and Kaspar felt nearly abandoned when Arianna choose the farthest medical college she could from home--but they couldn't blame her. Willow decided she didn't need to or have a desire to finish schooling. Much like Kaspar, she enjoyed studying books but as she was not an avid healer--more of an adventurer and collector of the arts--she decided she would go to travel in search of the knowledge they'd lost while being kept in a tight seal under the guise of their parents.
While Kaspar preferred the quiet and his nose in a book the average schooling was horrendously boring to him. He passed standard schooling with a mind to learn more about magic and become even better than Arianna. At what? Well, the more he knew, the better he could be. He was naturally drawn to the elements as well as the arcane. His parents warned him to keep his thirst for knowledge at just that and not power. It went without saying that public displays of magic and the dark arts were forbidden. He kept to their rules until he enlisted into the military. Left alone with no motivation to become anything other than a secret and with the mind that everyone, even those you though were closest fended for themselves and themselves only, Kaspar stewed in a fit of rage before deciding that he could let out his frustrations and travel by doing what every other young man or woman did with no clear goal -- join the army.
Nothing in particular peaked such a reason to enlist but the very reasoning was the battle itself. Driven by wanting to learn more and gather possible artifacts along the way, Kaspar found himself partnered with Marc Sealy as his spotter. Both of whom acted as close protectors for Samuel Delaney. The perfect job for someone quiet, calculating, and so analytical. He always had a notebook out with him anyways. The thrill of picking apart their surroundings and situations gave Kas just as much a rush as practicing magic. He finally found a place of purpose that suited his mind. Marc was a good man and though Kaspar didn't bond easily with less eccentric people he found it difficult not to befriend his partner. But like all good things it ceased when he happened upon one of Marc's books. Being the curious snoop he was, not thinking Marc would mind, he borrowed it to find the darkness his family had warned him of. Though he wasn't in search of power the dark spirits lured and manipulated Kas into learning the dark arts and even further doing some of their bidding.
Unable to keep his thoughts in order and spot correctly with the dark forces manipulating his mind, Kaspar was discharged from the battlefield. He returned to MA for a short while if only to gather his things and move to Seattle at the instruction of his new friends and advisors, along with curious bouts of energy and possibility drawing his attention.
While in Seattle he is able to study the rising war in the new world, practice the dark arts, and carry out the work he is given. As a guise he uses his skill set to work as a freelance editor/writer from home. He also answers the random call for a hex, enchantment or the like if he is bored enough.
